This was an idea I had for an intro. I created it near the start of the brief to get used to after effects. I like the final result and it inspired me to create my own music for my project. However it is a long intro and probably too long to include in my final piece, maybe cut it down?!? Undecided yet!!!

Final piece coming together
After my research of work by tomato and some by hexstatic I have decided on a style that I would like to go down for my animation. This is a more cut up - tech style than what I was doing before with some live video footage thrown in. I Have decided also on to concentrate more on the idea of my 2 objects morphing together rather than the actual end product of the two objects. To create sort of like a trailer for a film - show you a bit of what could/would happen.
I am also going to create my own music to go with my animation to help with the cut up-tech style and add in sounds effects.

ZINE Idea

Synaesthesia
Neurological mixing of senses
Seeing music / hearing colours
Based on this I would like to explore the visual sounds of mobile ringtones. Using the 'fact' of hearing colours, I will use different shapes and colours to represent the sounds of the ring tone so that people can interpret their view on how the music sounds.
I would like to make it into a zine, with fold out pages for the longer ringtones and maybe include a cd of the ringtones at the back for you to listen to after (or is that going against the fact of hearing colours so there would be no need for the cd? something to think about)
Exceeda
Exceeda work is a mix of video and motion graphic, however it was the motion graphic based advert for MTV/BOOM that got my attention. Made up of lots of graphic elements and videos, this advert really inspired me with my work. I really liked the chopping and changing of images and how they combined video with graphic.
Obviously my work is a lot more basic, however I think their work is amazing and a level I would like to work towards
Hexstatic
I have been looking at work from Hexstatic whos work is a montage of all different imagery from video to graphics, old and new, art and pop, human and machine and everything is mixed in together applying techniques that a scratch dj would use (which is why I was drawn to them). They work with another group called Colcut whos work I also find very interesting.
I have posted a link to a video on Hexstatic's my space which I took inspiration from particulary the first couple of minutes of it.

The colours I used were randomly red, blue and yellow. I had an idea of putting a section of the bear in a box then it reminded me of the De Stijl art and I had the right colours so i put a few of the designs into boxes with heavy strokes and created and animation from it.
I wanted to try and create some more clean cut type work for my hybrid to try a different approach.
I played around with the shapes and cut them up and put them back together to create these hybrid shapes. I also added the pylons in to add more content and to represent the electrical energy flowing through the bear because of the light bulb, bringing it to life.

C4D Practice
Tuesday, 13 October 2009

I have had a go at combining these two shapes to form the hybrid. My first ideas are based on taking the two shapes and keeping them, almost in their original forms, but multiplying and resizing to make up different images. The idea behind these was me thinking about how I would use the hybrid in the show reel. The idea I came up with in brief is to have the bear almost to be half 'machine like' and to be powered up by electricity! Hence being half made up of light bulbs and having them light up when the bear gets power which will then enable the bear to move about.
I like the idea, but I now want to try and combine the two objects to make more of an abstract shape and see what I can come up with that way, just to try other routes! Im going to try and get away as far as possible from the original forms, maybe taking some of the key features......maybe not, we will see what happens.

Reform ! !

My chosen object was a small teddy bear! I chose this because it has some key features on it such as the face, scarf, arms and legs, which I will try to manipulate to get away from the distinctive look of the bear but keeping some of the key features. The object I have to merge it with is a light bulb! I will try replacing some of the features of the bear with the light bulb and also merging them completely to make a new unusual shape.
